On Saturday, November 1, 2008 Buffalo County Youth Advisory Board, in conjunction with Buffalo County Community Partners hosted the 2008 Central Nebraska Youth Summit.Over 150 youth in grades 6th to 12th attended this free event, focused on empowering youth to 'Take A Stand'.
The summit was designed to teach youth leadership, community involvement and youth engagement. The event included guest speaker Jim Conway from the Search Institute and workshops in youth leadership training, community development, and career development.Youth were also paired off into teams in order to create actions plans for each of their respective communities.Participants took part in youth advocacy workshops to brand youth messages on t-shirts and posters, create business cards and 'Zines.Youth were also given the opportunity to participate in jousting, video games, crafts and assemble hero packets.Thank you to all of the donors, sponsors and volunteers that made this day a huge success!
